We hide behind the veils
Of our own unique design
But behind our white ties and tails
Our hearts rue the day
When the stars won’t align
The stars are the liar’s shield
Preventing the discovery
Of the secrets they won’t yield
But the day one star fails
Ousted is the liar’s debauchery
Only wit and fate can keep
That one detail from being spoke
Knowing it’d cause innocents to weep
Only bolstered is the liar’s resolve
To prevent the fury it threatens to invoke
Day by day the crime is left
To fester and wait inside the heart
Until by night in a dauntless theft
Or the failure of one star
It is found to taste so tart
Now with the lie exposed
The innocent make a realization
Using a facade so well composed
Hidden was a crucial memory
That they too made lies of their own creation
There will come soon, a day
When secrets are no more
The day when she will finally say
“I don’t love you
Not anymore”
