Flushing Marching Band Brings Home Hardware After Magical Season

November 7, 2015

The Flushing Raiders Marching Band had the honor of performing at Ford Field today (November 7, 2015) for the MCBA State Championships. Flushing has consistently made it to this competition since the 1960’s, continuing their success this year as they took fourth place in the State Finals. This was the perfect way to wrap up a historic season for the Flushing Raiders Marching Band, and a great reward for the outgoing seniors who have been attempting to make it happen since joining the team. This success would not have been possible without them, as well as the other performers and the many volunteers who helped to make this year’s performances amazing in every way. The increased dedication to props made the visual effects truly “illusionesque”.

“This Victory today is a huge success for the band program,” said Santiago Ochoa, the band’s Low Brass Section Leader. “It’s been a few years since we’ve gotten such a high score and clearly our hard work this year paid off.”

Flushing has previously won the Open Class National Title in 1979 and the State Championship in 1987. We here at The Blazer can’t wait to see what they will bring to the table next year and wish the Flushing Raiders Marching Band the best of luck in all of their future endeavors.

This victory is a huge success for the band program.”

— Santiago Ocho
